The browser scales the selected image into common icon sizes and packages the output for download. Very detailed originals lose legibility at 16 or 32 pixels even if the source is sharp. Files are processed in the browser workspace; compare the preview and the actual downloaded result.

Limits and privacy
Fine text is hard to read at favicon sizes; test the exported icons.
