Convert images to black and white online
Create classic monochrome photos, soft grayscale images, high-contrast B&W looks or pure threshold-based black and white images without installing software.
What's the difference?
Grayscale keeps multiple shades between black and white. Threshold mode reduces each pixel to either black or white based on the selected threshold.

About Grayscale Image
Make a color photo or graphic grayscale for a restrained visual style, simple proofs or printing previews. Color channels are combined by weighted luminance so green contributes more to perceived brightness than blue. The saved file keeps the original pixel dimensions.
How the browser tool works
The browser reads every pixel, calculates a brightness value and writes that value into the red, green and blue channels. It then exports a new image. Since the original color cannot be derived from gray pixels, keep the source file if you may want color later.
How to use it
- Choose a supported source file in the workspace above.
- Adjust the available options and inspect the preview or settings.
- Process the image and examine the downloaded file at its intended size before publishing.
Limits and privacy
Color cannot be reconstructed from the exported gray pixels.
The workspace works locally in your browser; selected source images are not sent to this site's application server. Some features load third-party code from a CDN, and large images may run out of device memory. Keep a backup of your original.
Questions about Grayscale Image
Is grayscale the same as a one-bit black-and-white image?
No. It keeps shades between black and white.\nCan I restore the original colors afterward? | Not from the grayscale output alone. Keep your original file.
